■  Steve Vai's Symphonic Concert

Steve Vai is one of the icons of contemporary rock and an inspiration to many musicians, not only rock stars. For several years, seeking new forms of expression, he has been performing with orchestras and in such an arrangement Steve Vai will give a concert in the Centennial Hall (Hala Stulecia) in Wrocław on 12th June 2013.

■  Jerema Klich passed away

Jerema Klich, an extraordinary person in the Polish guitar music, died on January 10, at the age of 44. One of the founding members of the Wrocław Guitar Society, a long-standing friend, an excellent musician, an eminent classical guitarist and teacher. Assistant Professor at the Academy of Music in Wrocław and a teacher at the Music School Complex in Legnica.

Jarema Klich was a laureate of international guitar competitions, and a guest at prestigious European festivals in France, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Denmark; he gave concerts in almost the whole Europe, as well as in Egypt, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Chile. He cooperated with the leading figures of the Polish music, including Ewa Małas-Godlewska, Stefania Toczyska, Krzesimir Dębski, Waldemar Malicki and Krzysztof Pełech. He was the author of a series of short stories "Portret Briana Brei" ("The Portrait of Brian Breja"), published by the Marina Publishing House.

The funeral ceremony will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm, at the Grabiszyński Cemetery in Wrocław.

■  „Crossing Borders” - première at the Festival

Marcin Olak Trio prepared brand new compositions for the Wrocław Guitar Festival, which will be placed on the album Crossing Borders. Its premiere will take place on the day of the concert in Firlej, on Saturday, 13 October. The record is announced as the most original of all the albums of Marcin Olak. It will feature works inspired by ethnic music, including "Tańce Ludowe Witolda Lutosławskiego" ("Spring Dances of Witold Lutosławski"), "Responsorium" referring to the traditional psalm form and the pieces "Crossing Borders - episode 1" and "Crossing Borders - episode 2" which are an unusual combination of ethnic elements with trance energy.
